WHAT IS BELOTERO?
Belotero is an FDA approved, hyaluronic acid-based injectable filler, much like Juvederm or Restylane. The gel temporarily adds volume to the skin giving it a smoother appearance. One of its clear advantages is its ability to treat superficial or smile lines along the nasolabial folds (the folds or wrinkles that go from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth). Where some hyaluronic acid fillers can create a bluish hue if injected too superficially (due to light reflected through the skin reflecting off the clear filler), this is not the case with Belotero. In this sense, it fills a niche in treating superficial facial contours. Another advantage of using it is its ability to eliminate its effects if you are unhappy with the results. Using an injectable enzyme called hyaluronidase, the effects of any hyaluronic acid filler, including, can be removed dissolving the filler and eliminating the effects.
There is no allergy test required with this injectable.
DERMAL FILLER TREATMENT WITH BALOTERO
BELOTERO BALANCE is a Dermal Filler that is injected into the skin using a very fine needle. It works immediately to fill in your lines and wrinkles and folds so you’ll leave our office knowing that is already working. The results are often instant and are proven to last. Most patients experienced results lasting for about six months or more in clinical trials.
WHO SHOULD NOT USE BELOTERO BALANCE?
Belotero is not for patients with a history of severe or multiple allergies, including patients with allergies to gram-positive bacterial proteins or with a history of anaphylaxis.
WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT IT?
As with any form of skin injection, there is a risk of infection that can be increased with laser treatments or chemical peels. Some side effects of Beloero include an injection site reaction, including inflammation that will usually last less than seven days, with the most common side effects including swelling, bruising, redness, hardening of the skin, pain, altered color or itching.
It is important to avoid the following for approximately 24 hours after treatment to reduce the chance of redness, swelling and/or itching of the injection site:
- Strenuous activity
- Extensive sun or heat exposure
- Aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
- Alcoholic beverages
